BAHASA INGGRIS SMP KELAS 8 | TO GET ATTENTION



Attention is the process that a person concentrates on some features of the environment to the (relative) exclusion of others. Attention is a general interest that leads people  want to know more. There are two kinds of attention expressions, namely asking for attention and showing attention. (Perhatian adalah proses dimana seseorang konsentrasi pada beberapa fitur lingkungan terhadap pengecualian (relatif) orang lain. Perhatian adalah kepentingan umum yang membuat orang lain ingin tahu lebih banyak. Ada dua macam ungkapan perhatian, yaitu maminta perhatian dan menunjukan perhatian.)

1. Showing Attention
    (Menunjukan Perhatian)
    - Oh, I see.
       (Oh, begitu.)
    - Is that all?
       (Apakah itu semuanya?)
    - Tell me more about it.
       (Katakan padaku lebih banyak tentang itu.)
    - Oh my God! What happens next?
       (Oh Tuhanku! Apa terjadi selanjutnya?)
    -  What's next?
        (Apa selanjutnya?)

2. Asking for Attention
    (Meminta Perhatian)
    - Attention, please!
      (Mohon perhatian!)
    - May I have your attention, please!
      (Bolehkah saya meminta perhatianmu!)
    - Your attention, please!
      (Mohon perhatian!)
    - Excuse me!
      (Permisi!)
    - Sorry to trouble you. 
      (Maaf mengganggumu.)
    - Sorry to bother you.
      (Maaf mengganggumu.)
    - Look, what I've got here.
      (Lihat, apa yang saya dapatkan disini.)
    - Look!
      (Lihat!)
    - Hey!
      (Hey!)
    - Hey, listen! I have a good news.
      (Hey, dengarkan. Saya mempunyai berita bagus.)
    - Hi, guess! I got an interesting news.
      (Hai, tebak. Saya mendapatkan kabar menarik.)
    - Listen! I have something to tell you.
      (Dengar! Saya mempunyai sesuatu untuk diceritakan kepadamu.)

Jika ada seseorang meminta perhatian, maka jawaban yang bisa diucapkan adalah sebagai berikut:
- Yes, please
 (Ya)
- All right.
  (Baiklah)
- Certainly
  (Pasti)
- What's that? Tell me, please.
  (Apa itu? Tolong katakan padaku.)

 
Dialog 1

A: Excuse me. (Permisi)

B: Yeah? (Ya?)

A: You dropped this. (Anda menjatuhkan ini)

B: Oh, that’s my wallet. Thank you so much. (Oh, itu adalah dompet saya. Terima kasih banyak)

A: You’re welcome. Please be more careful next time. (Sama-sama. Tolong lebih berhati-hati lain kali)

B: I will. Thanks. (Saya akan lebih berhati-hati. Terima kasih)

Dialog 2

Class captain: May I have your attention, please. (Boleh saya minta perhatiannya?)

Student 1: Hey, guys. Our captain wants to say something. Can you please be quiet? (Hei, teman-teman. Ketua kelas kita ingin mengatakan sesuatu. Bisa tolong diam?)

Class captain: Yes. Thank you. So Mr. Ahmad can’t come to the class today because he’s got an urgent thing to take care of. (Ya. Terima kasih.  Pak Ahmad tidak bisa datang ke kelas hari ini karena ada hal mendesak yang harus beliau urus)

Student 2: Nice! That means we’re free today. (Bagus! Itu artinya kita bebas hari ini)

Class captain: No. Listen up! He assigns us to read the article on page 57 and write a three hundred words essay based on the article. (Tidak. Dengar! Dia menugaskan kita untuk membaca artikel di halaman 57 dan menulis esai 300 kata berdasarkan artikelnya)
