1. Penggunaan Kata Wish
Kata Wish dalam bahasa inggris digunakan untuk menyatakan harapan yang tidak mudah atau mustahil untuk diwujudkan. Kata Wish juga sering kali digunakan untuk mengekspresikan pengandaian, mengungkapkan doa, dan mengucapkan keinginan dengan lebih sopan.
Contoh:
I wish I can fly (Saya harap saya bisa terbang)
I wish today is Saturday (Saya harap hari ini adalah Sabtu)
2. Penggunaan Kata Hope
Kata Hope digunakan untuk menyatakan harapan yang bisa dan sangat mungkin terjadi. Nah di sinilah letak perbedaan Wish dan Hope teman-teman. Misalnya seperti ini, ketika kamu sangat ingin atau berharap bisa membeli handphone baru tapi belum punya tabungan sama sekali ya jatuhnya sih masih di “Wish”. Tapi jika kamu sudah memiliki tabungan dan hanya kurang sedikit lagi kamu sudah bisa menggunakan “Hope”.
Contoh kalimat dalam bahasa inggris:
I hope I can buy new smartphone this month. (Saya harap saya bisa membeli smartphone baru bulan ini) -》 Karena sudah memiliki tabungan yang jumlahnya kurang sedikit jadi ya tentu akaj segera terwujud dengan usaha lebih giat menabung.

B: Yeah, I have. But she hasn’t responded yet. I just hope she will forgive me. (Sudah. Tetapi dia belum merespons. Aku hanya berharap dia akan memaafkanku)

B: Hallo, Ben. This is Anne. (Halo, Ben. Ini Anne)
A: Oh hi, Anne. What’s up? (Oh, hai, Anne. Ada apa?)
B: I just want to tell you that I can’t come to your party tonight because my son is sick. (Aku hanya ingin memberitahu bahwa aku tidak bisa hadir di pestamu malam ini karena anakku sakit)
A: I’m sorry to hear about your son. I wish your son a speedy recovery. (Aku turut menyesal anakmu sakit. Semoga dia lekas sembuh)
B: Thanks, Ben. (Terima kasih, Ben)

B: Sure thing. Here you are. (Tentu saja. Ini bukunya)
